Some interesting choices here, can’t say I’m shocked to see Suede feature so prominently, but then they’ve released three really good albums this decade, so that’s kind of fair enough really. Who would you say was your favourite discovery of the last decade? Frida Hyvonen? Or were you already aware of her before 2010?

Ooh, interesting question. My discovery of Frida slightly pre-dates 2010, yeah. I first listened to her music in Feb 2007 (according to last.fm) and Silence Is Wild was one of my favourite albums of 2009.

It’s actually quite difficult to find a high-charting band/artist on the decade chart that I was totally unaware of prior to 2010. I mean, Simon Love’s solo stuff’s been a definite fave discovery, but I already liked The Loves, so it wasn’t a totally new discovery.

Looking down the list, the highest entry by someone totally unknown to me pre-2010 is Allo Darlin’ at number 30. I discovered them in March 2010. The only others in the chart that are totally-new discoveries are Billie Eilish, Milky Wimpshake, Alex Lahey, Stella Donnelly, Garfunkel and Oates (ha ha, they’ve definitely been a favourite discovery!), Estrons, Best Coast, The Regrettes (who I only discovered within the last month!), Mother Mother, Moustache of Insanity, Courtney Barnett, The Burning Hell, The Anchoress and Biscuithead & The Biscuit Badgers. Quite a small percentage really. All great though. And I’m not actually sure I could pick a favourite. I wonder which of those I’ve listened to the most… *checks*… Ah, Garfunkel and Oates. Easily. 282 scrobbles since September 2014. Yep, I think they have to be crowned my favourite discovery of the decade 🙂 Milky Wimpshake are 2nd with 199 scrobbles. Then Allo Darlin’ in 3rd with 188.
