A-Z: Placebo – Pleasure

Placebo – Without You I’m Nothing (album)
Placebo are one of those bands I like, but wouldn’t rank amongst my favourites or anything. They have a few songs I really love – mostly the singles to be honest – but I don’t listen to them loads generally. This is the only album of theirs I’ve got and tis good but not really diverse enough to really wow me. My fave songs on it are the very predictabe choices of ‘Pure Morning’ and ‘Every You Every Me’.

Placebo – This Picture (single)

Placebo – English Summer Rain (single)
Another member of Chantal’s 2004 Singles Club! Actually, I was re-reading some old blog entries recently and found one that gives a good implication of how many singles I bought in 2004! Here we go, this is from 22nd March 2004…

Ok, went into town with the following list of singles I wanted to try and get:

Sherbet Antlers – Hikikomorai (yeah I know I already have this but would have bought it again if found it in HMV)
Melys – Eyeliner
The Divine Comedy – Come Home Billy Bird
Delays – Nearer Than Heaven
Adam Green – Jessica
Magnet & Gemma Hayes – Lay Lady Lay
The Keys – From Tense To Loose To Slack

The only one of those that was actually under ‘new releases’ (even though they’re all released today) was The Divine Comedy. I got both CDs of that no prob, plus they even had the vinyl! 😀 I was worried that was going to be it but looked under the individual artists and found Magnet & Gemma Hayes (yay) and The Keys (v pleasant surprise, though they did only have a couple of copies). And that was it! No Adam Green which was a bit surprising, no Melys which wasn’t really surprising, though their albums are usually easy to find in HMV when first released, and no Delays which was the most surprising as I bought their previous single there! Maybe it’s a distribution thing and they’ll get it later in the week. No Sherbet Antlers of course though as an extra purchase I bought Death Cab For Cutie – The New Year 🙂

I’ve been listening to all my purchases and all are fab. Yay for Lauren Laverne on The D.C. and yay for the fabness of From Tense To Loose To Slack and it’s similarity in places to Runaway. Oh and of course the cheesy but fab dum dum dums at the end! 😀

So now have been on Opal to make up for HMV single lacking and have ordered:
Melys – Eyeliner CD
Delays – Nearer Than Heaven CD and DVD
Adam Green – Jessica CD
The Keys – (I’m guessing it’s From Tense… 7″ but is down as I Gotta Sing for some reason?? Says it’s released today so must be From Tense… surely? Anyway, shall see what arrives!!)
Sophia – Oh My Love CD
Zero 7 – Distractions CD1

If you weren’t counting, that’s the grand total of 10 CDs, 2 vinyl and 1 DVD single I bought/ordered, just in 1 week! And I wonder how I ran up so much debt. :-/

Pleasure – Pleasure (album promo)
I think I’ll leave it here for today, seeing as it’s half 8 already (despite feeling more like half 5) and I should probably have some food and a shower (not simultaneously – that’s taking multi-tasking to a silly level) and try not to go to bed too late as otherwise I’m gonna struggle when my alarm goes off in the morning. Not that that’s unusual… Anyway, will write about this album properly when I listen to the non-promo copy. 🙂
